What hair straightening products should I use?

I want to buy a straightener, and it's my first one. I've read on websites you should use gels, heat protectors, sprays, serums, etc etc. However, from the answers I've read here, everybody has a different style and a different preference. My hair is thick, and poofs a lot, but it doesn't tangle. Also, after a shower, it dries really strangely. People have called it black people hair, even though I'm Asian. What are the basic products I should buy for flat ironing my hair? What hair straightening products should I use?
First you should invest in a really good straightener. I have a CHI and love it. I've heard GHD works better but its too expensive for me. I also use the CHI silk infusion before straightening my hair but after I blowdry. I also use Sunsilks thermasilk conditioner to protect my hair. Than I use TIGI Bedhea's Headrush Shine Adrenaline Superfine Mist Spray and it makes it nice and shiny and controls the flyaways! What hair straightening products should I use?
